ABOUT THE CAMPSITE

Welcome to Bush of Ewes! We’re a family-run, peaceful site in the beautiful Southern Uplands, with spacious grass and hardstanding pitches, countryside views, a stream for paddling and friendly animals including our cheeky Valais Blacknose sheep, Herdwicks, goats and chickens.

Our site is located just 10 minutes from Langholm, 25 minutes from the English border, 30 minutes from Gretna Green and 45 minutes from Carlisle. With the Meikledale walk starting here, it’s an ideal base for exploring.

ABOUT THE SITE

We offer spacious pitches, with 15 grass mesh and 12 hardstanding spots, all 10m x 10m and suitable for everything from tents and roof tents to caravans and motorhomes. Each pitch has the option of a 10 amp electric hook up (charged per night).

We’re lucky to have the Meikledale Burn running right past the site, perfect for a paddle on warm days and a favourite for dogs too. Outdoors lovers are spoiled for choice, with the nine-mile Meikledale walk starting right here, Loch Hill’s trails just five minutes away, and the Langholm Hills only 15 minutes from the site. And of course, our friendly Valais Blacknose sheep, Herdwicks, goats, chickens and other animals are always around to say hello.

We welcome BBQs and fire pits as long as they’re raised off the ground, helping us protect the grass. Fresh eggs from our hens are often available too, ideal for starting your morning with a delicious breakfast.

Dogs are very welcome here, with up to three allowed per pitch. We simply ask that they are kept under control, respectful of our animals, and cleaned up after at all times.

FACILITIES

We provide four toilets, a hot shower, and a handy washing up area for guests. There’s also a secure dog walk where your pups can stretch their legs off lead, and the river beside the site is perfect for a cool paddle on warm days.

If you need supplies, Langholm is just ten minutes away with shops for all the essentials. And if you’d rather let someone else do the cooking, the village has several pubs and restaurants, including the Douglas Hotel, plus the Whitshiels Café is only five minutes down the road.
